A ban on all handguns and assault weapons in Canada might be coming, an idea urged by the Trudeau government.
According to recent reports, Canadian Prime Minister Justine Trudeau has sent a letter of mandate to the Border Security Minister Bill Blair. The letter is a clear account of how the PM wants to proceed with local gun laws, as well as immigration.
“You should lead an examination of a full ban on handguns and assault weapons in Canada, while not impeding the lawful use of firearms by Canadians.”
Blair is responsible for many controversial issues, even including the legalization of marijuana. While the devil’s lettuce will be seeing freedom here in the coming months to combat the countries opioid crisis, guns are seeing a potential future of restriction.
For the last month, Trudeau has been looking to increase gun control restrictions. This is largely due to the mass shooting that took place on July 22. The same event inspired Toronto Mayor John Tory to consider banning all handguns in his city. Trudeau believes this is the best choice for the country.
“We’re looking at things that have been done around the world, things that have been done in other jurisdictions, looking at the best evidence, the best data, to make the right decisions to make sure that we are ensuring our citizens, our communities are safe into the future.”
Gun control has been a common topic of debate in the United States. While I’m not here to argue one way or another, It cannot be argued that additional restriction adds new complication toward prepping. Firearms can be a game changer in SHTF scenarios, as well as self-defense.
